December 8, 2:30 p.m.-  A LACKLUSTER performance did little to hamper the UST Tiger Spikers as they carved a 25-23 win on all three sets against the University of the Philippines (UP) Maroon Spikers earlier today at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The two teams had engaged on a tail-chase tiff as the España-based spikers barely got out to grab the first two frames, 25-23, 25-23, due to UP’s nearly impenetrable frontline defense.

In the third canto, the Tiger Spikers found themselves sprawling over the attacks of the Diliman-based team via corner strikes of UP’s Dominico Lucindo for a 12-6 lead in the middle of the set.

UST relied on team captain Henry Pecaña and John Paul Torres’ strikes near the net to edge out UP, 25-23.

Torres led the Tiger Spikers with 14 points, followed by Pecaña and Salvador Depante with 11 apiece. Lucindo topped for UP with 16 markers. Angelo Nonato P. Cabrera
