HirroTHE UST Lady Spikers won over Far Eastern University, 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, and 25-21, in their stepladder UAAP volleyball semi-finals duel this afternoon at the Arena in San Juan.

UAAP best scorer Maru Banaticla led UST with 18 markers, including 15 spikes, while Maika Ortiz and Judy Caballejo recorded 15 and 11 points, respectively.

Ang sabi ni coach sa akin, ibigay namin `yung 110 percent namin sa laro, pero mas hinigitan pa namin at ginawang 220 percent,” Banaticla said.

The Lady Spikers will go to battle with Ateneo de Manila, which enjoys a twice-to-beat advantage over UST, on Saturday.

`Yung game sa Ateneo, paghahandaan namin `yung match-ups. Magpapalit kami ng attack strategy,” head coach Odjie Mamon said.

UST clinched the last two frames as Ortiz’s running spikes and Banaticla’s off-the-block hits exposed FEU’s porous defense.

Ortiz connected a running spike that unleashed a 4-0 salvo, punctuated by Rhea Dimaculangan’s service ace for a 24-21 lead in the last frame. Chenny V. Ramos
