UST confers ‘Q’ Service Award to media outlets

LOCAL print and broadcast media agencies received Quadricentennial Service Awards last March 28 for being “part of God’s unending grace to the University.”

Office for Public Affairs Director Giovanna Fontanilla said the ‘Q’ Service Awards were given to media outfits for documenting and disseminating information on Quadricentennial events, which have made a “significant and positive impact for UST’s 400th year celebration.”

Recipients of the award included newspapers Manila Bulletin, Philippine Daily Inquirer, Philippine Star, Manila Times, Business Mirror, BusinessWorld, People’s Journal, Manila Standard Today, and Malaya, and local magazines Women’s Journal, Balikbayan, Town and Country, Enrich, Lifestyle Asia, Travel Time, and Mabuhay.

‘Q’ Service honorees in the broadcast media included ABS-CBN, GMA Network, ANC, TV5, RPN, IBC, NBN, TV Maria, Radio-Television Malacañang, and radio stations Radio Maria, Radyo Veritas, Tiger 22 Media Corp., and DWBR 104.3.

The Associated Press and the Foreign Correspondents’ Association of the Philippines also received the award.

‘Q’ Service Awards were likewise given to Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Herminio Coloma, former Philippine ambassador to the Holy See Leonida Laki-Vera, broadcast media consultant Vic Vianzon, creative director Dopy Doplon, Tourism Congress vice president Jaime Cura, the Unesco National Commission of the Philippines, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, SM Supermalls, Swatch Philippines, Philippine Postal Corp., and Mercury Drug Corp.

Along with a plaque, a Swatch Duo—two watches especially made for the University’s 400th-year celebration—were given to the honorees.

Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim, Ambassador Raymond L.S Wang, lawyer Rafaelito Garayblas, Miss International 1964 Gemma Cruz-Araneta, and Ting Ting Cojuangco also graced the event. Garayblas and Lim were the first two recipients of the ‘Q’ Service Award in 2010 and 2011, respectively. B. D. Nicolas
