DEFENDING champions UST Tiger Paddlers are on track for another podium-finish after landing on second place heading into the second round of the UAAP table tennis tournament.

Adolfo Bazar, Jr. led the way for UST with an impressive performance against Far Eastern University’s (FEU) Jhinno Selma, 3-0, to help the squad walk away with a 6-1 card, behind only De La Salle University (7-0).

The duo of Norielle Pantoja and Alberto Bazar were the only casualties in the match as they lost to FEU’s Remy Dacut and Mike Yap, 1-3, at the Ateneo Blue Eagle gym last Sept. 23.

“We just need to focus on our weaknesses and improve on them during practice.”

The Lady Paddlers clinched the second spot in the second round after defeating the FEU Lady Tams, 3-1, at the same venue.

V Lupeba sealed the win for UST after thrashing Maricar Jarme in the third singles match, 4-1.

“We’re just lucky in our win against the FEU team,” coach Lorinda Wadjad said. Hedrix Ar-ar C. Caballe
