IN SPITE of a great run this season, the UST Growling Tigers came up short in their hunt for championship No. 19.

The Tigers failed in their bid to repeat their historic 2006 title run, yielding to the Ateneo Blue Eages in Game 2 of their best-of-three finals series, 62-65.

Here are some thoughts from the UST community on the Tigers’ gritty campaign.

“Right from the start, ‘yung team nila malakas. ‘Yun nga lang, they lack championship experience. Hopefully, ‘yung growing pains of not making it, ‘yung growing pains of almost having it but not quite will make them better.”
-Japs Cuan, point guard of 2006 championship team

“Last four years ko dito, ito lang ang umabot sa championship round. Sayang kasi malapit na e. Excited na ‘yung communitykahit wala pa. Sana next year makuha na natin.
-Jeremiah Dagcutan, AB Economics alumni

“Sayang kasi nandun na sila, ‘di pa nakuha. Lamang talaga sa championship experience ang Ateneo kaya kinulang tayo sa huli. Over all, maganda ang na-achieve nila this season.
-Prince Martin, UST Tiger Cub

“Though mataas ‘yung expectations, kinapos pa rin. Hopefully next year champion na.  Malakas ang chance natin kasi kaunti lang yung natanggal, sina Fortuna at Afuang, at marami ang magiging beterano.
-Klein Vargas, 4th year B.S. Marketing

“This season, the Tigers showed their versatility both in offense and defense and they definitely proved how lethal their end-game is. Given their finals appearance this year and with their never-say-die attitude, people can expect the Tigers to deliver a serious run at the championship next season.
-Euna Cabangoon, 4th year, AB Journalism
