13 January 2013, 7:27 p.m. – THE UST Lady Spikers suffered a second set-meltdown and bowed down to the FEU Lady Tamaraws, 25-22, 27-29, 18-25, 23-25, at the end of the first round of eliminations of the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at The Arena in San Juan Saturday afternoon.

Now with a 4-3 win-loss card, UST is tied with the National University and Adamson University at third place.

Team captain Judy Caballejo and Maika Ortiz combined for 23 points, while Lady Tamaraws Wenneth Eulalio and Rosemarie Vargas chipped in 17 markers apiece.

In the fourth set, Maruja Banaticla and sophomore Carmela Tunay scored two consecutive power shots as UST pulled to within one, 16-17.

UST managed to tie the set at 23-all courtesy of Caballejo’s crosscourt attacks. But the Lady Tamaraws regrouped as Vargas finished the match with a drop shot. Alexis U. Cerado
