13 April 2013, 10:55 p.m. – THE UST Growling Tigers dropped their Filoil Flying V opener against the De La Salle Green Archers, 67-73, at The Arena in San Juan Saturday afternoon.
The Archers overwhelmed the Tigers, the UAAP finalists last season, despite solid contributions from Jeric Teng and Aljon Mariano, who unloaded 31 and 28 points, respectively.
Rookie Jason Perkins starred for La Salle with 17 markers. Jeron Teng and Almond Vosotros added 10 points apiece.
For the first time since the Philippine Collegiate Champions League (PCCL) where UST emerged as champions, the Tigers played without floor general Jeric Fortuna.
The former UST team captain is now with the San Miguel Beermen in the Asean Basketball League (ABL). Jan Edward Ballesteros
