THE UST Lady Booters swept the University of the Philippines (UP), 2-0, in the UAAP football tournament at the Far Eastern University (FEU)-Diliman field last Dec. 1.

Striker Jennizel Cabalan started the scoring early and converted a goal for UST in the sixth minute. Lady Maroon Kali Navea-Huff attempted to tie 10 minutes into the game but was denied by the goalkeeper.

The Lady Booters got another goal, this time from Cabalan in the 27th minute.

In the 45th minute, UP’s Mary Rose Obra had a clear attempt from the right side, but UST’s defense forced her to miss.

“The flow of our offense and defense was good,” coach JR Judal said. “We just need to continue the intensity to make it to the Final four and get our hands on that championship trophy again.”

In their past games against Ateneo De Manila University (0-0) last Nov. 25 and De La Salle University (1-0) last Nov. 27, Judal emphasized the need to persevere, to take advantage of every clear opportunity and to play good, relentless defense.

“Passing was the key to our wins in the past games,” Judal said. “The next games will not be easy for the team because we will be facing tougher opponents such as defending champion FEU, so we really need to train hard.”
