Feb.  5, 2015, 11:23 p.m. – THE UST Golden Tigresses’
four-game winning streak came to a halt after suffering a 21-25, 9-25, 18-25
beating at the hands of the De La Salle Lady Spikers in the second round of the
UAAP Season 77 women’s volleyball tournament at the San Juan Arena Wednesday.

La Salle unleashed a
14-2 run in the second set for a dominant 25-9 win that took the fight out of
the Golden Tigresses.

UST suffered its
first loss in the second round but still keeps solo third place with a 5-6
win-loss record, half a game ahead of NU, UP and Adamson.

The usually potent
offense by the Tigresses struggled big time as they only managed 25 attack
points. Pam Lastimosa, Ria Meneses and EJ Laure led the team with six points
each.

The Golden Tigresses
tried to stage a comeback in the third set but La Salle’s defense was too much
to overcome.

“Nakaka-frustrate
talga (La Salle defense) on the players, tapos wala pa kaming receive,”
said UST head coach Odjie Mamon.

The UST Golden Tigresses
will next face the undefeated defending champion Ateno de Manila University
Lady Eagles on Feb. 11, 2 p.m. at the Smart Areneta Coliseum. Delfin Ray
