December 12, 2015, 4:25p.m. – THE UST Tiger Cubs ended the first round of the UAAP Season 78 juniors’ basketball tournament with a 40-61 beating from the Far Eastern University at the Ateneo de Manila University Blue Eagles Gym Saturday.
FEU banked on rolled over the Cubs early with a 21-6 llead then used 15-9 run in the fourth to finish them off.
Three Baby Tamaraws scored in double-digits, while Miguel Ratuiste was the only Tiger Cub to reach the mark with 11 points.
“Hindi nagsi-sink ‘yung [shots ng] mga bata. Even the small guys ng FEU [na] kumukuha ng bola, mas active sila inside the court,” Tiger Cubs assistant coach Brian Angeles told the Varsitarian.
The Tiger Cubs shot a woeful 21.62 percent in the field. They also only managed to sink two treys out of 23 attempts.
FEU outrebounded UST, 71-39.
The Tiger Cubs are now at sixth place with a 2-5 win-loss card. The second round of the tournament will start n January. John Chester P. Fajardo
