February 11, 2016, 6:26p.m. – A REJUVENATED UST Golden Booters dominated the Adamson University Soaring Falcons, 2-1, to kick off their UAAP Season 78 campaign at the Moro Lorenzo Field today.
The Booters built a 2-0 lead after rookie AJ Pasion converted a right wing goal off a Darwin Busmion dish in the 39th minute, then again in the 52nd minute.
Adamson’s Jisuel Pilarca connected on an outside-the-box hit in the 80th minute to avoid a shutout for the Falcons.
“Defensively, maganda ‘yung laro nila ngayon,” UST head coach Marjo Allado told the Varsitarian. “We attacked well, [pati ‘yung] passing and defending [maganda din].”
The Booters had solid chances of pulling away in the first half, but misfired on the 25th and 27th minutes.
Adamson also had chances to score in the 60th and 71st minutes.
Up next for UST are the University of the East Red Warriors on Sunday, 7 p.m., at the McKinley Field.
