February 13, 2016, 6:56p.m. – THE UST Tiger Softbelles surrendered to the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 1-2, and fell to fourth place in the continuation of the UAAP Season 78 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex Saturday.

The Lady Maroons scored two quick runs in the second inning and held on to the lead in a lackluster finish. They now sit on third place.

Softbelle Gabriela Paulinne Paz scored UP’s first run from a Chantal Louise Bongat RBI (run batted in) and was quickly followed by Bongat’s own run via Cindy Kerr Ferrer’s RBI.

Hannah Mae De La Torre gave UST a chance for a comeback through her stolen base run in the sixth inning from Kristine Joy Lacupa’s RBI but the Tigers failed to follow through.

“Off [ang team]. Walang opensa, [at] ang dami pang errors,” Tiger Softbelle head coach Sandy Baredo said.

UST recorded only two hits the entire game.

Now with a 2-3 win-loss record, UST will try to improve in the standings as it faces De La Salle University for the last game of the first round on Monday at the same venue. John Chester P. Fajardo
