THE UST Lady Booters bowed down to the De La Salle University, 1-2, in second round of eliminations of the UAAP 78 women’s football tournament at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig Saturday.
After a lethargic first half, UST tried to regain momentum in the final minutes of the game but failed to deliver.
Veteran Lady Booter Nina Acuña prevented the shutout with a goal in the 90th minute.
La Salle’s Kyla Inquig drew first blood with a header two minutes into the match. La Salle’s second goal came from a Shannon Arthur free kick in the 66th minute.
UST head coach Priscilla Rubio lauded the Lady Booters’ performance, especially the rookies.
“Sila (‘yung rookies) kasi wala pang pressure, kumbaga naglalaro lang talaga sila” Rubio said. “Nagkulang lang talaga sa will to win noong first round.”
Now out of contention, the Lady Booters will close their UAAP campaign against Ateneo de Manila University on Saturday at the same venue.
