April 30, 2016, 10:22a.m. – THE UST Golden Booters demolished the University of the East Red Warriors, 3-0, to solidify their bid for a semifinals slot in the second round of eliminations of the UAAP Season 78 men’s football tournament at the McKinley Hill Stadium in Taguig Sunday.
UST controlled both offense and defense and did not allow the Warriors to set up their play.
Golden Booter Marvin Bricenio scored his first goal of the season with a middle strike at the 82nd minute.
Veteran Ronald Batisla-ong scored the first goal at the 26th minute via a header. His second conversion 11 minutes later put UST ahead, 2-0.
UST is tied with Ateneo de Manila University at third place with 25 points.
The Golden Booters can secure a spot in the Final Four should they win their final game against league leader La Salle on Thursday at the Moro Lorenzo Field in Ateneo.
