VETERAN point guard Jamil Sheriff will no longer suit up for the Growling Tigers this season for going over the UAAP’s age limit, a source told The Varsitarian.

The 5’7″ Sheriff, who started for the Tigers in their last two finals appearances, became ineligible to play this season since he turned 25 years old last July 21.

A player must not be older than 24 years by July 31, according to the UAAP rules.

Head coach Boy Sablan broke the news during practice yesterday, Aug. 31, said the source who is part of the team.

After the Varsitarian posted the news on Twitter, Tigers co-captain Kent Lao confirmed the information through a quote tweet.

“This is way way worse than a heartbreak. But, we still got you bro (Sheriff),” Lao said in his tweet.
