Nov. 2 2016, 10:09 p.m. – THE UST Golden Tigresses lost the top spot in the 13th Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference after a 16-26, 23-25, 25-22, 14-25 loss to the Pocari Sweat Lady Warriors at the PhilSports Arena Wednesday.
Pocari sizzled with 50 kills and 11 blocks, capitalizing on UST’s 27 unforced errors, to emerge as the number one team in the standings.
The Tigresses trailed by just three points in the final frame, 10-13, before the Lady Warriors pulled away with a 12-4 run.
After being down 11-14 in the third set, the Tigresses retaliated with an 11-3 spurt to prevent a sweep.
“Expected na mangyayari ‘to in today’s game dahil galing pa kami sa UniGames and holiday pa kahapon so mabigat pa talaga ‘yung katawan ng mga bata,” head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said.
The Tigresses slid to third place with a 5-2 win-loss record. They will face Pocari again in a best-of-three semifinal series.
Breanna Mackie led Pocari with 27 points while Myla Pablo had 16 points.
Ennajie Laure had 18 points for UST while Ria Meneses and Cherry Rondina added 10 points apiece.
