Nov. 23 2016, 10:17 p.m. – THE ADAMSON University secured the last UAAP semis spot after thrashing the UST Growling Tigresses, 73-59, at the Mall of Asia Arena Wednesday.

The Tigresses crashed to fifth place and will miss the semifinals for the second consecutive year.

Shanda Anies buried a triple with 2:33 ticks remaining to cut Adamson’s lead, 53-64. But a layup by Kaye Pingol denied a UST comeback.

“We know that Adamson is a pressing team, alam namin kung anong gagawin sa amin but unfortunately, we were not able to execute well on their press and with our press break,” head coach Haydee Ong told the Varsitarian.

Adamson scored 33 points off UST’s 40 turnovers.

Pingol led the Lady Falcons with 17 points while Nathalia Prado registered 15 markers and 10 boards.

Anies and Bettina Penaflor were the only Tigresses to register in double figures, chalking up 14 and 10 points, respectively. Ivan Ruiz L. Suing
