Nov. 26 2016, 9:16 p.m. – THE UST Tiger Cubs fell short against the National University Bullpups, 73-64, in the UAAP Season 79 juniors’ basketball tournament at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan Saturday.
A three-point play by Tiger Cub Inand Fornillos closed the gap, 64-61, with 1:47 left in the game.
NU slammed the door on the Tiger Cubs, who now have a 1-4 win-loss card, with nine straight points.
“I think ‘yung ibang player natin, which is pagod na rin, kasi nga pukpukan talaga ‘yung game. Isa pa ‘yun sa iko-correct namin,” head coach Chris Cantonjos told the Varsitarian.
John Clemente paced NU with 23 points while Fornillos had a double-double performance of 24 markers and 14 boards for the Tiger Cubs.
The Bullpups converted 23 points off UST’s 38 turnovers. They also scored 16 fastbreak points.
UST will face the Adamson University Baby Falcons on Dec. 3, 1 p.m., at the same venue.
