Junior Tiger Spikers blast Adamson

THE UST Junior Tiger Spikers dominated the Adamson University Baby Falcons, 25-18, 25-16, 25-13, to notch their second win in the UAAP Season 80 boys’ volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan Sunday.

After an early deficit, the Junior Tiger Spikers showed grit and ignited a 22-9 blast capped by Julianne Solis’ service ace.

UST pulled away in the second set after setting off a 13-3 bomb to reach set point, 24-13. The Baby Falcons retaliated with three-straight points but Charles Segui’s down-the-line hit gave the Junior Spikers a 2-0 set lead.

The Junior Tiger Spikers unleashed a 16-6 run to take the lead, 19-10. A down the line hit by Efraem Dimaculangan iced the first canto.

“‘Yung confidence nila andun. Naka-relax ‘yung utak nila, naka-relax ‘yung katawan nila so lahat ng pinag-praktisan namin going into this game na-absorb lahat ng utak nila,” UST assistant coach Rommel Abella said.

The Junior Tiger Spikers peppered on the Baby Falcons’ floor defense with 45 attack points.

UST’s net defense yieled five blocks while Adamson had none.

Team captain Lorenz Señoron led UST with six points while Segui and Kenneth Cawiling added five markers.

Baby Falcon John Eclipse had four for Adamson.

UST improved to a 2-1 win-loss card and will try to extend their winning streak against the University of the Philippines Integrated School Junior Maroons on Oct. 1 Sunday, 12 nn, at the same venue.
