THE UST Lady Spikers captured bronze while the Tiger Spikers fell short in the Beach Volleyball On Tour December Open 2018: A Christmas Rally at the SM Sands by the Bay in Pasay Sunday.
The UST tandem of Baby Love Barbon and Genesa Eslapor, who played under Maynilad, escaped Creamline’s Fille Cainglet and Kyla Atienza in the battle-for-third, 17-21, 21-12, 15-8, to bag bronze.
Barbon and Eslapor dropped out of finals contention after surrendering to National University’s Roma Doromal and Kly Orillaneda in the semifinals, 21-16, 15-21, 12-15.
Barbon and Eslapor also pummeled fellow Thomasians Derie Virtusio and MJ Embro in the quarterfinals, 21-11, 21-13.
In men’s play, Efraem Dimaculangan and Rancel Vargas succumbed to former Tiger Spikers Kris Roy Guzman and Anthony Arbasto in the bronze medal match, 21-17, 19-21, 15-11, to settle for fourth.
The tournament ran from Dec. 14 to 16.
