OUTSIDE hitter EJ Laure will miss her second-straight UAAP season, her sister Eya told the Varsitarian.
EJ Laure, a former Rookie of the Year, did not suit up for Season 80 due to a shoulder injury.
This time, Eya said EJ decided to skip the tournament anew out of respect for the current roster of the Tigresses, who have been training all year long.
UST head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said the Tigresses still have enough firepower to make up for EJ’s absence.
“Nag-e-evaluate pa kami ng players pero marami naman kaming rookies na puwedeng ilagay sa final lineup,” he said.
Even without EJ, the team managed to bag silver in the Philippine Super Liga Collegiate Grand Slam last Dec. 20.
Reyes added that EJ has yet to show up in the Tigresses’ practices for the upcoming tournament.
UAAP volleyball action will start on Feb. 16
