RESIGNED UST Growling Tigers’ coach Aldin Ayo said he would ask the UAAP to reconsider its decision to ban him indefinitely, calling it inappropriate.

The ban resulted from a UST investigation into the “bubble” training Ayo conducted for the Tigers in his home province of Sorsogon despite government restrictions because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I deeply feel that the indefinite ban imposed by the UAAP Board against me is not appropriate under the circumstances. I will seek reconsideration of such sanction,” he said in a statement.

The Commission on Higher Education is also investigating the possible liability of UST officials over the Sorsogon training.

In the case of Ayo, the UAAP found that the “bubble” training “endangered the health and well-being of the student athletes under his charge when he conducted the training during a government-declared state of emergency.”

“I have realized that no matter how driven and well-meaning you want to be, things just mess up,” Ayo said.

“It gets you humbled, humiliated even, and we learn to painfully accept to just let things be,” he added, but promised to “coach again.” Rommel Bong R. Fuertes Jr.
