SEASON 82 holdovers Dave Ando and Sherwin Concepcion steered the UST Growling Tigers’ victory against the University of the East Red Warriors, 71-62, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.

Ando (career-high 16 points and 12 rebounds) and Concepcion (17 points and 11 rebounds) tallied double-doubles to help break the Tigers’ three-game losing streak.

Down by seven in the third, 47-40, the Tigers used a 12-3 run in the third quarter to overtake the Warriors, 52-50.

UST held a three-point advantage at the start of the final frame, 54-51. Joshua Fontanilla scored five in the Tigers’ 6-0 run to put them up, 60-51.

The Tigers trailed by as much as 10 in the first quarter, their biggest deficit of the game.

UST outrebounded UE, 55-43.

Nic Cabañero helped the Tigers’ cause with 11 markers.

UE’s Kyle Paranada led all Warriors with 17 points, sinking five triples.

The Tigers will take one week off during Holy Week. They return to action on April 19 against the De La Salle University Green Archers, 12:30 p.m., at the same venue.
