The UST Golden Tigresses succumbed to the UAAP Season 84 women’s volleyball champions NU Lady Bulldogs, 25-23, 23-25, 25-21, 25-17, in the semifinals of the Shakey’s Super League at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum on Friday.

Composed mostly of rookies, UST’s Super League team took the second set after losing the first set by only two points.

UST’s second-set stunner was capped by a Cassie Carballo-Regina Jurado combination play to tie the game at one-set apiece.

However, the disparity in experience showed in the latter sets as the Lady Bulldogs outlasted the young Tigresses to book a finals ticket.

With UST down by two sets to one, the veterans of NU outmuscled the rookie-laden Tigresses in the fourth set after pulling a 5-0 run to put the Lady Bulldogs up, 14-9.

Alyssa Solomon led NU to match point, scoring all of her six points in the fourth set, 24-17.

UAAP Season 84 rookie MVP Bella Belen capped off the match with a power attack to seal NU’s victory, 25-17.

Xyza Gula and Jurado led the Tigresses with 12 points apiece, while Pierre Angeli Abellana tallied 9 points.

NU’s Alyssa Solomon was named player of the game with 15 points.

The Tigresses went against the powerhouse NU without veterans Eya Laure, Camille Victoria and Ysa Jimenez.

The Golden Tigresses will face the loser of the Adamson Lady Falcons-DLSU Lady Archers match in a battle for bronze at the same venue on Saturday, Nov. 19,  at 2 p.m.  J.P.L Cajayon
