The UST Lady Woodpushers settled for a 2-2 tie with the defending champions NU Lady Bulldogs in the UAAP Season 85 women’s chess tournament at the Far Eastern University Tech Gymnasium on Saturday, Nov. 19. 

NU’s woman grandmaster candidate Kylen Joy Mordido outsmarted UST’s rookie Rohanisah Buto to give the Lady Bulldogs their first win. 

UST’s Josemier Jene Panol bowed down to the Season 84 rookie of the year and woman fide master Allaney Jia Doroy. 

With UST being down by two, 0-2, Jamaica Marie Lagrio dominated NU’s Jesca Docena in 48 moves while Macydel Fajardo tied the match after forcing NU’s Natasja Jasmine Balabbo to resign after 75 moves.  

UST and NU continued to be neck-and-neck in the standings with 8.5 points apiece after four matches. FEU is third with eight points. 

The UST Lady Woodpushers will next face the Adamson University Lady Falcons at the same venue on Sunday, Nov. 20, at 2 p.m. John Peter L. Cajayon
