Milena Alessandrini is back.

The Fil-Italian outside hitter will be part of the UST Golden Tigresses roster in the upcoming UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament, Fr. Rodel Cansancio, O.P. confirmed to the Varsitarian.

The Season 80 Rookie of the Year is expected to add veteran leadership and offensive firepower to the Tigresses team that lost two rotation players in Ysa Jimenez and Camille Victoria, who both decided to turn pro.

Alessandrini trained with the Tigresses in Japan from Jan. 13 to 22.

Alessandrini suffered a season-ending left-knee injury in UST’s fourth game in Season 81. She was diagnosed with a partial tear on her anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and grade 3 sprains on her medial collateral ligament (MCL) and lateral collateral ligament (LCL).

She has been healthy since 2021.

Alessandrini’s comeback will boost the Golden Tigresses’ rookie-laden lineup, which showed promise and finished fourth in the Shakey’s Super League.

The UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament will kickstart on Feb. 25. Bjorn Del B. Deade
