Northport Batang Pier general manager and former Tigers head coach Pido Jarencio on Saturday revealed that he had been in talks with UST officials about a possible return, but nothing is final yet.

Rumors of Jarencio’s possible reunion with UST have been making the rounds on social media since the sudden resignation of Bal David, who led the Tigers to a forgettable 1-13 record in Season 85.

“Antayin na lang natin ‘yung announcement nila [UST officials],” Jarencio told reporters after Northport’s 121-112 loss against the the NLEX-Road Warriors in the PBA.

“Kahit papaano, nakausap ko na, naka-chambang usap. Usap pa lang,” he added.

The team is currently operating under an interim coaching staff in charge of conducting training sessions.

The Varsitarian learned from multiple sources within the UST administration and interim coaching staff that Jarencio’s return had yet to be formalized.

Jarencio coached the Tigers for eight seasons (2006-2013) and has one championship, three finals appearances and six Final Four berths under his belt.
