The UST Golden Booters conquered the Ateneo Blue Eagles, 2-0, in the UAAP Season 85 men’s football tournament at the UP Diliman Football Stadium on Sunday.
UST’s Stephen Marasigan registered a first-half brace, converting goals in the 22nd and 28th minutes of the match.
With the Golden Booters up by two at halftime, Marasigan found an open spot for a potential hat-trick, but Ateneo’s goalkeeper Artuz Cezar fended off his attempt.
The Golden Booters used a dime and quarter defense play to preserve the lead and drained the remaining minutes of the match.
The UST Golden Booters will next face the UP Fighting Maroons at the same venue on Thursday, Mar. 2, at 6 p.m. John Peter L. Cajayon
