Golden Booter Stephen Marasigan led UST to cap the first round of the UAAP Season 85 men’s football tournament with a 1-0 win against the Adamson Soaring Falcons at the UP Diliman Football Stadium on Sunday.

Marasigan converted the lone goal of the match in the 42nd minute after a Kyler Escobar pass that slipped by his fellow winger Daniel Nartey.

Sabi nga nila coach, the only way to win a football game is to score. So, as a striker, iyon ‘yung kailangan namin ibigay sa team with Daniel and the other wingers,” Marasigan told the Varsitarian

Marasigan scored three of UST’s four total goals in the first round.

The Golden Booters tallied a total of seven points with a 2-1-3 win-draw-loss record, while the Soaring Falcons remained winless.

UST head coach Marjo Allado said his team would do the much-needed adjustments to work for a Final Four ticket in the second round.

“Maraming adjustments talaga going to the second round,” Allado said. “We’ll get back in the second round kasi I believe sa team na ito ay may maibibigay talaga.”

The league has yet to announce the schedule for the second round of eliminations.
