The UST Golden Tigresses returned to their winning ways after venting ire on the UE Lady Warriors, 25-17, 25-16, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament at the Mall of Asia Arena on Wednesday.

The Golden Tigresses established a nine-point lead in the first set to pull away early, 19-10. Imee Hernandez capped the set with a quick, 25-17.

UST continued its momentum and made easy work of the Lady Warriors in the second frame, 25-16

A game-winning 10-1 run in the third set allowed the Tigresses to complete the sweep and claim their sixth win.

Eya Laure led the Tigresses with 17 points built on 15 attacks, one block, and an ace.

KC Cepada paced the Lady Red Warriors with 12 points, while Vanessa Bangayan had 11 markers.

UST head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes commended the Golden Tigresses for their ability to collect themselves after their four-set loss against Adamson over the weekend.

“First round, we [started with] first loss, tapos ngayon second round, ganoon din. Ang maganda naman bumabalik kami agad after ng pagkatalo namin. Marami kaming dapat ayusin especially ngayong tumataas ‘yung level ng labanan,” Reyes said postgame.

UST now has a 6-3 win-loss record, while UE remained winless in nine matches.

The Golden Tigresses will next face the unbeaten DLSU Lady Spikers on Sunday, April 2, Sunday, 2 p.m., at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
