UST Jins bag multiple awards in the 32nd South East Asian (SEA) Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

FIVE UST Jins representing the Philippines snagged one gold and two bronze medals in the men’s, women’s and mixed poomsae events of the 32nd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Former Lady Jin Jocel Ninobla banded with Season 84 Most Valuable Player (MVP) Aidaine Laxa and Lady Jin Nicole Labayne to capture the Philippine Taekwondo team’s first gold after ruling the women’s team recognized poomsae event with 7.72 points.

Malaysia’s Lim Wei, Nur Abdul Karim and Nurul Abdul Karim snagged silver with 7.700 points (2nd place), while Thailand’s Ornawee Srisahakit, Pichamon Limpaiboon and Ratchadawan Tapaenthong and Vietnam’s Thi Hong Nguyen, Thi Kim Nguyen and Tran Kim Uyen Le tied for third after tallying 7.66 points apiece.

In the mixed pair recognized poomsae, the duo of Ninobla and Ian Corton took home the bronze medal as they scored 7.5, finishing behind Malaysia and Vietnam, which won first and second place, respectively.

Tiger Jins Darius Venerable and Justine Macario teamed up with Jeordan Dominguez, Juvenile Crisostomo and Zyka Santiago to secure bronze in the mixed freestyle team poomsae event with 6.640 points.

The Vietnamese team of Dang Tran, Ngoc Nguyen, Thi Mong Nguyen, Tuyet Chau and Van Hua bagged gold with 7.020 points, while Thailand’s Chutiphon Pansoon, Jiraphong Khetlak, Nuttapat Kaewkan, Sasipha Chuphon and Thunsinee Mookda won silver with 6.860 points.

Ninobla failed to defend her women’s individual recognized poomsae title after missing out on a podium finish.

The Philippine poomsae team ended the one-day tournament with a 2-1-2 gold-silver-medal tally.
