A SOPHOMORE from the College of Science will be the University’s courtside reporter for UAAP Season 86, while a communication senior was named among the courtside reporters for the 99th season of the NCAA.

Chelsea Rusiana, an industrial biology sophomore, will be UST’s correspondent for the upcoming UAAP season.

Rusiana said she is enthusiastic to showcase the stories of the new members of the Growling Tigers.

“What I want to achieve as a courtside reporter is to highlight these trends of each player, because this season, we have a lot of new players,” she told the Varsitarian. “I want to highlight all of them, tell their stories, and give them the recognition they deserve as members of the playing team.”

Diana Igual from the Faculty of Arts and Letters will have courtside reporting assignments in NCAA Season 99.

Igual’s role involves collaborating with 11 other NCAA courtside reporters, as there are 12 participating schools in the collegiate league, and reporters are not assigned to specific teams.

“I think it is really challenging since we’re going to report for different teams,” she told the Varsitarian. “I’m still trying to get into the groove of it but that’s not to say that I feel out of place. I still feel like I belong.”

Igual covered her first NCAA game for the Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals when they played against the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta Altas on Sept. 27 at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.

Rusiana is set to make her broadcasting debut when the UST Growling Tigers face the UE Red Warriors in the Season 86 opener on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena. Ernest Martin G. Tuazon
