THE UST Paddlers picked up four wins in the UAAP Season 81 table tennis tournament at the UP College of Human Kinetics gym Monday.
The Tiger Paddlers pummeled the University of the Philippines, 3-1 before outlasting powerhouse De La Salle University, 3-2.
Reymark Magbuang sealed the victory for UST after escaping La Salle’s Daniel Ocon, 11-6, 7-11, 11-7, 11-7.
“Buo kasi ang loob ng mga players kaya kahit dikit na ‘yong game, confident pa rin sila sa skills nila, ” Tiger Paddlers head coach Jackson Que told the Varsitarian.
In women’s play, the Lady Paddlers swept the Ateneo de Manila University, 3-0, before pounding the University of the Philippines, 3-1.
Lady Paddler Danica Alburo finished the game against UP after a hard-fought 6-11, 11-7, 11-5, 5-11, 16-14 win against Celine Ching.
“Pinilit namin si Danica na maglaro kasi medyo nawalan siya ng tiwala sa palo niya. Buti, na-revive ang palo niya sa dulo ng laro,” Lady Paddlers head coach Lorinda Wadjad said.
The Tiger Paddlers remain undefeated in 10 games while the Lady Paddlers stayed still at second place behind a 9-1 win-loss card.
Table tennis action resumes tomorrow, Oct. 2, at the same venue.
