DEFENDING champions UST Tiger Paddlers advanced to the UAAP table tennis tournament finals with a 14-0 win-lose slate at the Blue Eagle Gym Monday.

UST swept the University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons, 3-0, and snagged a 3-1 win over the National University Bulldogs.

UST’s John Michael Castro and Alvin Sevilla posted early wins over the Fighting Maroons in their respective singles matches.

Tiger Paddler duo Mcleen Dizon and Prince Karl Garcia’s 5-11, 11-9, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8 victory over Judah Elishah Cagas and Earl Ruelo sealed the win for UST.

In their singles matches against NU, Sevilla and Castro posted victories over Bulldogs Romulo Ramizo and Stephen John Diez while Tiger Paddler Paul Que suffered a loss against Francis Bendebel.

Tiger Paddler tandem Dizon and Garcia triumphed over Franz Mogol and Piolo Llamas, 13-11, 11-4, 11-5.

UST will enter the finals with the NU Bulldogs, De La Salle University Green Archers and Adamson University Soaring Falcons, who placed second, third and fourth, respectively.

UAAP men’s table tennis finals in stepladder format will commence on Nov. 19, Tuesday, 8 a.m., at the same venue.
