UST taekwondo teams rule national meet

UST TAEKWONDO teams dominated the 2018 National Inter-School Taekwondo Championships at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex last Sept. 29 to 30.

The Lady Jins, Tiger Jins and Junior Tiger Jins bagged the overall crown in their respective divisions.

The Lady Jins finished the competition with a 6-2-4 medal tally.

Charisse Ragutana, Allysa Asegurado, Laila Delo, Mary Limjoco, Colleen Heria and Gabe Solomon accounted for the six gold medals of the Lady Jins. 

Rryshel Ramirez and Charm Ragutana both secured silver in their respective matches.

Raimee Arugay, Zay Cajes, Realis Tabiando and Charity Ragutana all reaped bronze.

“Malaking tulong itong panalo namin para sa preparation namin for the upcoming UAAP season. We prepared hard for this kaya we deserve this win,” Lady Jins team captain Charm Ragutana told the Varsitarian in an online interview. 

In men’s play, the Tiger Jins collected a 2-1-2 medal haul with Prince Marcos and Ryrel Ramirez nabbing gold in their respective divisions. 

Tiger Jin Christopher Borja delivered a silver medal while Paulo Miguel and Arjay Zapanta captured bronze. 

“We are just patiently following the system and trusting our coaches. Hindi kami nagmamadali, baby steps lang every competition,” Tiger Jins team captain Aries Capispisan said in an online interview.

In the boys’ division, the Junior Tiger Jins ended with a 5-2-1 medal count. 

Juan Asuncion, Marco Rubio, Dave Labaton, Mark Gariega and Israel Cantos all bagged gold in their respective divisions. 

Junior Tiger Jins’ Dominic Maquiling and Rohann Mendoza got silver medals while Chieko Cajulis took home their lone bronze medal.
