THE UST Lady Jins scored twin victories on the second day of the UAAP Season 81 taekwondo tournament at the Blue Eagle Gym Thursday.

The Lady Jins survived the De La Salle University, 4-3, before thrashing the Far Eastern University, 7-0, in the second game.

Lady Jin Gabrielle Limjoco dispatched FEU’s Roweida Kamad in the fourth match, 12-3, to seal the win for UST.

“After the first match, we were able to make adjustments already tapos na-correct na rin ‘yong mga errors that we had during first game,” Lady Jins head coach Jasmin Simpao told the Varsitarian.

In men’s play, the Tiger Jins escaped FEU, 4-3, before succumbing to defending champion National University, 1-6.

NU’s Joseph Chua pummeled Arjay Zapanta in the fourth match, 30-10, to give UST its first loss of the season.

“The pressure got to the players. I know my players personally and hindi talaga ‘yon ang laro nila,” Tiger Jins assistant coach Gershon Bautista said.

The Tiger Jins slid to a 3-1 win-loss card while the Lady Jins improved to a 4-0 slate.

The Tiger Jins will clash against UP and the University of the East while the Lady Jins will face UE and NU in the final day of the tournament tomorrow at the same venue.
