THREE UST Poomsae Jins snagged individual medals in the Online 2021 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Finals held from Dec. 21 to 23. 

Three Poomsae Jins contributed three medals out of team Philippines’ four, at the Online 2021 ATU President’s Cup Poomsae Championships (G2) the day before.

Three Thomasian players contributed two silver and one bronze in the Philippine poomsae team’s 2-5-4 haul. 

Tiger Jin, Justin Kobe Macario, placed second with 7.320 points under the men’s over-17 individual freestyle category.

“Masaya [ako] kasi maganda ‘yong results ng buong team and blessed po kasi parang early Christmas gift na ni Lord ‘to para sa amin,” Macario told the Varsitarian.  

UST alumnus and 2019 Southeast Asian Games medalist Rodolfo Reyes Jr. earned silver after tallying a 7.630 average score in the men’s under-30 individual event. 

In the women’s play of the same category, Lady Jin Jocel Lyn Ninobla secured bronze with 7.590-point performance. 

The three-day virtual tilt was streamed live on the World Taekwondo’s Youtube channel.
