TWO former UST Jins were named among the best under-30 poomsae athletes in the January 2022 rankings of the international federation World Taekwondo in its January 2022 rankings.

Former Lady Jin Jocel Lyn Ninobla climbed 12 places to rank third overall among female poomsae athletes with 56.36 points. Denmark’s Eva Sandersen and Paula Fregoso of Mexico took the first and second places, respectively.

UST alumnus and 2019 Southeast Asian Games medalist Rodolfo Reyes Jr. moved up 77 spots to rank fourth in the male rankings.

“Isang malaking karangalan ‘yun, kasi lahat ng effort, hardwork, dedication and discipline namin sobrang nag-pay off. Thankful kami sa mga tao and coaches na naging part ng journey namin to success,” Reyes told the Varsitarian.

Ninobla and Reyes last participated in the Online 2021 World Taekwondo Poomsae Open Challenge Finals, where they reaped several medals.

Aidaine Krishia Laxa, a current Lady Jin, was ranked 328th.

Two more Filipinos were in the rankings: Rinna Babanto (No. 262) and Patrick King Perez (No. 289).
