FORMER UST Lady Jin Jocel Lyn Ninobla bagged a gold medal for the Philippines in the 2023 World Taekwondo Beach Championships in Chuncheon, Korea on Aug. 20. 

Ninobla toppled Singapore’s Diyanah Aqida and world No. 5 Alejandra Higueros from Guatemala to nab gold in the recognized poomsae individual female under-30 event. 

According to the World Taekwondo Federation’s scoring system, the competition rewards first placers in the G-2 category with 20 points. Ninobla will remain the world No. 2 in the recognized poomsae female under-30 category with 193.48 points. 

Her fellow national team member, Patrick Perez, took bronze for the Philippines in the male’s recognized poomsae under-30 event.

On July 9, Ninobla bagged two gold and one bronze medals in the 2023 WT President’s Cup-Oceania in Australia. B.A.L.Flores
