PNG table tennis: UST falls short in doubles events

July 6, 2015, 8:51 a.m. - THE UST Paddlers took home one silver and one bronze medal in the doubles category of the Philippine National Games (PNG) table tennis tournament at the Harrison Plaza, Manila, Sunday.

After winning a semifinals thriller against De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, the UST duo Norielle Pantoja and Alberto Bazar came up short against Adamson University's Vladimir Rarama and Francis Bendebel in the finals, 11-8, 8-11, 7-11, 9-11 and settled for the silver in the men's doubles event.

July 5, 2015, 3:59 p.m. - FOURTEEN UST Tiger Paddlers advanced to the knockout stage in the singles event of the Philippine National Games (PNG) table tennis tournament at the Harrison Plaza in Malate, Manila Saturday.

UP ousts UST Paddlers in Final Four

Oct. 10, 2014, 10:56 p.m. - THE UST Paddlers succumbed to the University of the Philippines and were ousted in the Final Four of the UAAP Season 77 table tennis tournament at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym Wednesday.

The Tiger Paddlers will miss the finals after squandering a twice-to-beat advantage over the Maroons, who beat them, 1-3 and 2-3, in their two encounters.

UST failed to close out the knockout game after Tiger Paddler Adolfo Baltazar dropped the fourth game and allowed the Maroons to force a fifth and deciding match.

UST Paddlers book Final Four ticket

Sept. 29, 2014, 11:08 p.m. - THE UST Paddlers barged into the Final Four after a strong finish in the elimination round of the UAAP Season 77 table tennis tournament at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym, Monday. The Tiger Paddlers completed the second round with an impressive 6-1 record (11-3 overall) to advance in the playoffs at second place behind undefeated De La Salle University.

The Lady Paddlers banked on two crucial victories late in the second round to secure the last spot in the Final Four with a 7-5 overall record.

The Lady Paddlers edged Season 76 runner-up La Salle in a five-game thriller, 3-2, before sweeping Adamson, 3-0.

UST Paddlers open 2nd round with multiple victories, move closer to Final Four

Sept. 21, 2014, 9:52 p.m. - The UST Paddlers opened their UAAP Season 77 second-round campaign at the Ateneo Blue Eagle Gym Sunday with rousing victories to improve their chances in the table tennis Final Four.

The Paddlers earlier lost to an undefeated De La Salle University, 0-3, but bounced back against the University of the East and first-round second placers University of the Philippines.

UST finished the first day of the second round in second place with a 2-1 win-loss record and 7-3 overall (5-2 in the first round).
