UST Golden Sox end disappointing season at 4th place

Feb. 27, 2015, 1:19 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox achieved a measure of success in an otherwise forgettable UAAP 77 campaign after handing the Adamson University a 9-3 defeat at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Thursday.

UST finished fourth with a 4-6 record but will not play in the semifinals as the top two squads will go directly to the finals.

Defending champion Ateneo and La Salle clash in a rematch for the baseball crown.

Feb. 23, 2015, 3:30 p.m. - IMPROVED pitching fueled the UST Golden Sox to a huge 7-1 upset of defending champion Ateneo de Manila University in the UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Stadium Sunday.

UST arrested its six-game losing skid to keep its slim chance of making it in the Final Four with a 3-6 win-loss card.

La Salle pummels UST Golden Sox

Feb. 15, 2015, 11:11 p.m. - PITCHING problems plagued the UST Golden Sox who yielded to De La Salle University, 0-13, in the second round of the UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.

The Golden Sox lost their fifth straight game, dropping to fifth place with a 2-5 win-loss card.

The pitching problem was evident after UST allowed a three-run possession courtesy of Green Archer Dino Imperial's right field hit in the fourth inning for three Runs Batted In (RBI) and a 10-0 La Salle advantage.

UP hands Golden Sox third straight loss

Feb. 8, 2015, 6:20 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox failed to catch up in the sixth inning and crashed to a 4-11 defeat against the University of the Philippines to cap the first round of the UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.

The Golden Sox were trailing by only four points in the sixth inning when UP scored three runs, two from a hit by Timothy Cu which allowed back-to-back conversions from Jose San Juan and James Legaspi to finish the match, 11-4.

Golden Sox drop second straight vs. La Salle

Feb. 5, 2015, 4:57 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox absorbed their second defeat after a 0-2 decision against De La Salle University in the UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Thursday.

Batting problems caused the Golden Sox to drop to third place with a 2-2 win-loss record behind defending champion Ateneo de Manila University and the Green Archers.

Golden Sox head coach Jeffrey Santiago rued the offensive collapse in the first inning where they failed to convert even with the second and third bases loaded.

At the bottom of the sixth inning, La Salle's Dino Imperial took advantage of a UST catching error in the third base to score another run and put the match away.

Ateneo clobbers UST Golden Sox

Feb. 01, 2015, 4:46 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox bowed down to two-time defending champion Ateneo de Manila University, 2-12, in the UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.

Team captain Arvin Plaza scored UST's first run at the bottom of the fourth inning to trim the deficit to two, 1-3.

UST Golden Sox escape Adamson

Jan. 29, 2015, 8:00 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox outplayed Adamson University, 12-10, in the UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Thursday.

With all three bases loaded in the sixth inning, a Run Batted In (RBI) from Noriel Valencia sent Christian Mercado, Kirk Peralta and Jayrome Kimilat to home base, giving the Golden Sox their biggest lead, 11-3.

But errors haunted UST in the next two innings as the Falcons mounted a furious comeback to cut the deficit, 9-11.

UST Golden Sox win season opener vs NU

 

Jan. 25, 2015, 10:27 p.m. - THE UST Golden Sox opened their UAAP season by trouncing National University, 8-3, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.

UST scored four runs at the bottom of the decisive third inning, including back-to-back conversions from Christian and Max Mercado, to build a four-point lead, 6-2.

The Golden Sox added another two runs in the fourth inning courtesy of co-captain Arcel Aligno and team captain Arvin Plaza to put the game away, 8-2.
