Feb. 5, 2015, 4:57 p.m. – THE UST Golden Sox absorbed
their second defeat after a 0-2 decision against De La Salle University in the
UAAP Season 77 baseball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Thursday.
Batting problems caused the Golden Sox to drop to third
place with a 2-2 win-loss record behind defending champion Ateneo de Manila
University and the Green Archers.
Golden Sox head coach Jeffrey Santiago rued the offensive
collapse in the first inning where they failed to convert even with the second
and third bases loaded.
At the bottom of the sixth inning, La Salle’s Dino Imperial
took advantage of a UST catching error in the third base to score another run
and put the match away.
“Off na off yung hitting. Madaming strikeout lalo na sa
mga heavy hitters namin. ‘Yung palo talaga ang kailangan kasi maganda naman
‘yung pinakita ng pitcher,” Santiago said.
The Golden Sox will seek to bounce back against the
University of the Philippines on Feb. 8, 7 a.m., at the same venue. Delfin
