Retooled Tigresses gear up for V-League

July 11, 2015, 1:40 p.m. - THE UST Golden Tigresses are eyeing a podium spot they narrowly missed last year as they gear up for the Shakey's V-League Season 12 second conference at The Arena in San Juan on July 11.

With UST undergoing a major revamp with Emilio "Kung Fu" Reyes taking over Odjie Mamon as head coach, the Golden Tigresses will use their V-League stint as training ground especially for new recruits.

Rookies Mia Dizon, Alyssa Teope, Renalyn Hachero and Alexa Rafael are set to see action for the Tigresses.

Daquioag earns his stripes as Tigers’ main scorer

DESPITE the UST Growling Tigers' disappointing exit in the FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup, the emergence of Ed Daquioag as a leader and capable scorer is a bright spot that the Tigers can look forward to in the upcoming UAAP season.

With UST missing the services of Renzo Subido and Karim Abdul due to various medical concerns, and Kevin Ferrer to commitment to the national team, Daquioag carried the Tigers on his back and has been a near unstoppable force on the offensive end, averaging 20.38 points per game in eight outings.

UST Growling Tigers miss Filoil quarter-finals with narrow loss vs La Salle

June 6, 2015, 9:28 p.m. - THE UST Growling Tigers fumbled in their final possession and the De La Salle University Green Archers escaped with a 84-82 victory and book a quarterfinals slot in the 2015 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at The Arena in San Juan Saturday.

With the score tied at 82, UST had ball possession in the last 6.5 seconds of the game. But Jamil Sheriff turned the ball over allowing La Salle star Jerom Teng to score the game-winning layup and end the Tigers' Filoil run.

Filoil: Growling Tigers weather late Pirates run

May 28, 2015, 10:02 a.m. - THE UST Growling Tigers returned to the winning column after surviving the Lyceum of the Philippines University Pirates, 72-66, in the 2015 FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the San Juan Arena Wednesday.

UST lost a 65-52 lead in the fourth quarter after a 10-0 Pirates' run, but Ed Daquiaog and Christian Kakonda buried key baskets down the stretch to give the Growling Tigers their third win in six games. Delfin Ray M. Dioquino

CEU Scorpions outgun UST in Filoil

May 24, 2015, 11:20 a.m. - THE UST Growling Tigers succumbed to the Centro Escolar University (CEU) Scorpions, 77-82, in the 2015 FilOil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup at the Arena in San Juan Saturday.

Despite huge performances from Ed Daquioag and Kevin Ferrer, UST obviously missed missed the services of center Karim Abdul as the Scorpions pounded the paint led by Alfred Batino who scored 20 points and grabbed 12 rebounds.

Daquioag and Ferrer combined for 60 points but no other Tiger cracked double digits. In contrast, the Scorpions showcased a balanced offense with six of their players scoring at least 10 markers.

Short-handed Growling Tigers fall vs UE in Fil Oil opener

April 26, 2015, 1:14 p.m. - AN UNDERMANNED UST Growling Tigers dropped a close 59-60 decision against the University of the East Red Warriors to open the 2015 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup at the San Juan Arena Saturday.

Down one with 17 seconds to go, the Growling Tigers missed three attempts allowing the Red Warriors to secure the win.

Tiger Softbelles settle for 3rd after UP blowout

March 24, 2015, 12:03 a.m. - THE UNIVERSITY of the Philippines crushed the UST Tiger Softbelles' hopes for a finals appearance with a convincing 9-1 victory in the knockout semifinals of the UAAP Season 77 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Sunday.

The Tiger Softbelles settled for third place after allowing the Lady Maroons to convert six runs in the fifth inning.

The UP batters started to connect in the fourth inning as Angela Penales converted a run via Sella Mendoza's run batted in (RBI). Chanty Bongat's right field hit sent DC Cruz and Danielle Cruz to home plate, giving the Lady Maroons a 3-1 lead.

Tiger Softbelles force rubber match vs UP

March 20, 2015, 8:35 p.m. - THE TIGER Softbelles on Friday erased the University of the Philippines' twice-to-beat advantage with a 7-2 victory in their Final Four encounter in the UAAP Season 77 softball tournament at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

A commanding four-run first inning set the tone for the Tiger Softbelles as they forced a knockout match for the last finals berth.

Tiger Softbelles nip NU to secure podium finish

March 19, 2015, 3:17 p.m. - THE UST Tiger Softbelles mounted a come-from-behind victory against National University, 4-3, in the stepladder semifinals of the UAAP Season 77 softball tournament at the Rizal Memorial Stadium Wednesday.

NU blanked the Tiger Softbelles in the first four innings and established a 3-0 lead. But the Softbelles began to connect with their batting to register a three-run fifth inning and tie things up.

Tiger Softbelles lose 2nd place to UP, face NU in KO match

March 14, 2015, 6:12 p.m. - THE UST Tiger Softbelles suffered a major defensive breakdown in the last two innings as the University of the Philippines hacked out a 7-4 decision in their second seed playoff at the UAAP Season 77 softball tournament in Rizal Memorial Stadium Saturday.

The loss placed UST at third seed, giving up a twice-to-beat advantage to the Lady Maroons going into the Final Four.

The Tiger Softbelles squandered a 3-0 lead in the third inning after committing consecutive errors, paving they way for a five-run fifth inning for UP.
