March 20, 2015, 8:35 p.m. – THE TIGER Softbelles on Friday
erased the University of the Philippines’ twice-to-beat advantage with a 7-2
victory in their Final Four encounter in the UAAP Season 77 softball tournament
at Rizal Memorial Stadium.

A commanding four-run first inning set the tone for the
Tiger Softbelles as they forced a knockout match for the last finals berth.

Kristine Lacupa converted two runs to lead the UST offense,
while Mallows Garde had two runs batted in (RBI). Pitcher Anne Antolihao again
provided the defensive edge for the Tiger Softbelles, forcing a no-hitter in
four innings.

“Sinabi ko lang sa kanila na confident ako na mananalo
sila,” said UST head coach Sandy Barredo. “Sabi ko na kung
mami-minimize ‘yung errors at maganda ‘yung palo, walang tatalo sa
inyo.”

The Tiger Softbelles, who lost to UP in their second-seed
playoff, registered only two errors, compared with the Lady Maroons’ six.

The grudge match between to two teams is set on March 22, 9
a.m. at the same venue. The winner will face undefeated defending champion
Adamson University. Delfin Ray M. Dioquino
