September 27, 2015, 2:21p.m. – THE UST Junior Tiger Spikers overwhelmed the University of the Philippines, 25-10, 25-21, 25-23, to end their three-game losing streak at the start of the second round of the UAAP Season 78 boy’s volleyball tournament at the Adamson University gym Sunday.

UST capitalized on the Junior Maroons’ 38 unforced errors as they improve to a 4-3 win-loss card.

After trailing 17-9 in the last frame, UP uncorked a 12-5 run to trim UST’s lead, 22-21. But UST walked away with the win following a service error from the Junior Maroons.

UP tried to regain momentum with the Junior Spikers’ 14 unforced errors in the second set but UST scored three quick points for a 2-0 advantage.

Robin Chan registered five points for UST while Miguel Competente, Clyde Cajipo, Teo De Guzman and Alrim Lajara had four apiece.

“Happy kasi nanalo pero ‘yung pinakita nila hindi [ako] masyadong satisfied kasi hindi naman ganyan ang laro nila sa practice,” UST assistant coach Rommel Abella said.

The Junior Tiger Spikers will next face defending champions University of the East on Tuesday, 8 a.m., at the same venue.
