Oct. 3 2016, 7:13 p.m. – THE UST Golden Tigresses notched their second straight win at the expense of the Philippine Coast Guard Lady Dolphins, 25-16, 25-10, 25-23, in the 13th Shakey’s V-League Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena Monday.

UST had a barrage of 39 kills and 10 aces and capitalized on the Lady Dolphins’ 25 unforced errors to improve to a 2-0 win-lose record.

The Lady Dolphins forced a 22-all deadlock late in the third set. But the Tigresses scored three quick points, highlighted by a down-the-line kill from EJ Laure, to pocket today’s victory.

“Smooth naman ‘yung game nung first two sets kaso nung bumunot kami ng players sa bench nung third set, medyo mag-iba ‘yung tempo ng laro. Siguro ayun pa ‘yung kailangan baguhin,” head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said.

Laure led the charge for the Tigresses with 12 markers while team captain Pamela Lastimosa, Carla Sandoval and Ria Meneses had seven kills apiece.

UST zoomed to a 16-3 lead in the second behind a 11-0 blitz capped by an ace from sophomore Carla Sandoval to break away.

The unbeaten Golden Tigresses will face the Balipure Purest Water Defenders on October 8, Saturday, 4p.m., at the same venue.
