Oct. 8 2016, 5:10 p.m. – THE UST Junior Tigresses preyed on the University of the Philippines Junior Lady Maroons, 25-14, 25-8, 25-9, in the second round of eliminations in the UAAP Season 79 girls’ volleyball tournament at the Adamson University Gym Saturday.
The Junior Tigresses tallied 40 kills and 16 aces to pocket today’s victory, their sixth win in seven outings.
Merry Rose Jauculan paced the Junior Tigresses with 12 points while team captain Eya Laure and Baby Love Barbon had eight points apiece.
UP led 9-8 early in the third set before the UST unleashed with a 15-1 blitz to arrive at match point, 24-9.
Jauculan provided the finishing touch for the Junior Tigresses with a service ace.
“[We won today because] they followed the instruction na i-execute ‘yung plays na ginagawa namin sa training and sumunod sila na dapat masaya lang sa loob ng court,” UST assistant coach Yani Fernandez said.
The Junior Tigresses, now at second seed, will face Adamson University on Oct. 16, Saturday, 1 p.m. at the same venue.
