THE UST Junior Tiger Spikers surged past the University of the East Junior Warriors, 25-20, 23-25, 25-19, 25-20, in the UAAP Season 79 boys’ volleyball tournament at the Adamson University gym Saturday.
Despite committing 48 errors, the Junior Spikers made use of UE’s poor reception with 10 service aces en route to a 9-1 win-loss record.
UST went on a 7-3 run to build a 19-14 advantage in the fourth set before UE collapsed with a service error.
Lorenz Señoron led UST with 19 points while Rey De Vega and Jaron Requinton chipped in 17 and 11 markers, respectively.
“Naging consistent kami sa offense, laging nandoon at hindi nawawala. ‘Yung reception namin nagi-improve na rin,” UST assistant coach Rommel Abella told the Varsitarian.
With the third set tied at 17-all, the Junior Spikers dropped an 8-2 blitz capped by team captain Señoron’s ace for a 2-1 set lead.
UST will face Adamson University tomorrow, 9 a.m., at the same venue.
