THE UST Junior Spikers walloped the Ateneo de Manila University, 26-24, 25-16, 25-17, in the UAAP Season 79 boys’ volleyball tournament at the Adamson gym Sunday.
UST exploited Ateneo’s poor floor defense with 29 kills and 12 service aces.
The Junior Spikers pulled away from a three-point lead to reach match point, 24-17, before Jaron Requinton’s hit gave UST its 11th win in 12 games.
“Nakaka-receive tayo ng maayos [at] walang problema ‘yung offense natin,” UST assistant coach Rommel Abella said.
Rey De Vega led UST with 19 points.
UST will seek to avenge their first-round loss to the National University Bullpups on Nov. 5, Saturday, at the same venue.
