Nov. 30 2016, 2:14 p.m. – THE THIRD time was not the charm for the UST Junior Tigresses as they collapsed against the Nazareth School of National University, who took home their third straight UAAP juniors title Wednesday.

UST settled for a third consecutive runner-up finish to the Lady Bullpups, who prevailed, 22-25, 23-25, 25-15, 20-25, in Game 3 of their finals at the Adamson University gym.

Season MVP Faith Nisperos had 16 kills of NU’s 46 kills, while Finals MVP Princess Robles added nine points.

UST had the chance to extend the match into a decider after holding three-point lead midway the fourth set. But NU pulled away with a 7-1 run.

“Talagang lumabas lang kung sino talaga ang beterano. Wala naman kaming dapat ikahiya dahil nade-develop naman ‘yung mga bata,” head coach Emilio “Kung Fu” Reyes Jr. said.

The Junior Tigresses capitalized on NU’s 17 third-set errors to power a 12-4 run for an 18-10 lead.

UST trailed by just a point in the opening set, 20-21, before the Lady Bullpups scored three quick points to arrive at set point, 24-20.

Eya Laure was the lone bright spot for the Tigresses after scoring 20 points.
